Commission process

Photograph requirements

First of all you will need to choose a suitable photograph. The higher resolution (larger) the photo, the better as I like to include as much detail in the portrait as possible. The photo should be in focus and well lit. For the best results, I suggest using a photo taken in daylight, with some contrast between light and shade. I can also create group portraits using different photographs.

The images will need to be of a similar quality and preferably similar lighting. If you are not sure if your photos are suitable, please feel free to send me a selection and I would be happy to advise which would work best. You can send me a message using the contact form.

Get a quote

See my price list for options, then fill out the contact form to let me know your requirements. If you have anything else in mind, such as including a background or choosing a different size image, please let me know and I will aim to get back to you within 24 hours with a quote. Once the commission has been agreed, a 25% deposit is required before I begin the portrait.

Colour portraits

For colour portraits I use a combination of gouache paints and coloured pencils. All paintings will be on acid free archival quality paper to best preserve them for years to come.

Pencil portraits

Drawings are completed with high quality graphite pencils on acid free paper. The final drawing will be treated with a fixative to prevent smudging.

Finished artwork

A preview of the portrait will be emailed to you for approval, prior to posting. Once the full balance has been paid, I will send your artwork using a registered delivery service.

Taking care of your artwork

All artworks will be presented in acid free card mounts. To best preserve your portrait and prevent fading it is recommended that you should not display your artwork in direct daylight or near sources of heat or moisture.
